Gwyn's Story
|
I grew up as the only child of wonderful parents, and had a very happy childhood. My parents sent me to Sunday School and taught me to pray, and I grew up always knowing that God was with me. When I was 14, I was taken on a school holiday to a place called Capernwray Hall in the Lake District. There I heard people testifying to what the Lord Jesus had done in their lives, and couldn't understand what it was that they had which was different from me. I think it was there, though, that the first seeds were sown that would eventually bring me into a life-changing experience with God. Although I always prayed and knew that God often helped me, I knew there was something missing in my life. I was one person in church and another outside. When I was 18, I found the missing piece! I heard the gospel again, and this time asked the Lord Jesus into my life. For about a week afterwards I felt a tremendous feeling that I wasn't worthy to be saved but then, whilst reading the Bible one day, a verse 'jumped out' at me - it was from Ephesians chapter 2, verse 8 : '...it's by Grace that you're saved, through Faith, not of yourselves, it is the gift of God'. From that moment, I knew that God had forgiven me for everything I'd ever done wrong and He'd given me the gift of salvation, not because of anything I'd done, or could do, but by His Grace (undeserved love). |
