Adventurers
Kingsway Excellent Adventurers is a club for children who are of Primary School age (4-11, but must be in full time school). It is Bible based, and teaches Christian values, but is open for all children.
The team members are trained and are experienced children's workers. We have a lot of young leaders too, serving God and the community, who have grown up through Adventurers.
The club is free, and you do not need a uniform. However, if you want you can dress up as we use fun themes. In the past we have had Pirates and Camelot. Currently, 2008/2009 we are using the URBAN ADVENTURE theme. We sing lots of action songs, have hilarious games then we get down to some serious time and have a Bible Story with object lessons to help us understand what God wants us to learn. We break up our routine programme with a Fun Night. Sometimes we have crafts, or a film night or a party with even more games. We also love competitions and there are many opportunities to win prizes and collect your own points, which lead to certificates, prizes or an outing.
The Adventurers team has helped plan lots of spin-off events such as Holiday Clubs, Fun Days, Rambles, Singing/Drama/Music workshops, and even special Christian artists for shows designed for children.
The club is affiliated to The Kidz Klub Network and also Sefton Play Council.
THE ADVENTURERS LEADERSHIP TEAM
The Adventurers Leadership Team is made up of a mixture of people of all ages and backgrounds. The youngest are 11 years of age, who have grown up through the club and want to help. They can learn leadership skills and technical skills such as using multi media presentation. Our teenage and young adult helpers contribute lots of enthusiasm and energy and keep us oldies in the know about current trends and topical issues.
The adult team members have many qualifications to contribute, from working with children's clubs for over 30 years; classroom assistants: management and administration; First Aid; Health & Safety; dance; drama and so on. We continually take advantage of courses on offer, (such as the Child Protection Act) that will further enhance our knowledge of play and working with children. However we all have two things in common, a personal knowledge of the Love of God and a genuine care for children.
